My husband signed me up for On Ramp as a surprise!  At the time my family and I were on a road of recovery after having a terrible year health wise.  My husband had recently finished treatment for lymphoma and was recovering from that. My son (5 at the time) was struggling with his asthma, having been hospitalized for it.  I was very stressed, trying to be strong for everyone else. I was underweight, stressed out, not eating well, and I constantly had migraines.  I had not heard of Crossfit before until my husband showed me a youtube video.  He said, “I think you’d really like this kind of training.”  I told him it looked like a lot of fun and something I could get into.  He said, “Great, I signed you up.  You need to focus on getting yourself happy too.  You start on Monday”.  

It was a life changing thing for me.  Since starting the program 2 and a half years ago I have noticed a great change in myself.  I am stronger, fitter and way more confident.  I changed my diet when I started On Ramp.  I feel healthier and happier than I ever have.  Crossfit has helped me to understand my body better and to appreciate its capabilities.  I feel as though tasks in my everyday life are more achievable because I feel I know I can do anything as long as I am focused, set my mind to it and put the work into it.

As a mom and an elementary school teacher, I am constantly making decisions. It’s really nice to show up at the gym and have a plan already set out for me with someone there to guide me through it.  I feel that the programming is purposeful, achievable and most importantly, fun!  I can’t wait to go to the gym.  It’s my happy place.  A lot of moms feel as though they are taking away time from their family and being selfish if they decide to do a regular training schedule.  I think it’s the opposite.  Taking time for yourself, focusing on making yourself healthy and happy in turn makes you happy.  That makes the people around you happier too.  Our gym is fun, it’s welcoming and it has lots of really, really great people.
